We, the undersigned, petition the Mecklenburg Parks and Recreation Commission and the Mecklenburg County Commission to preserve and protect the historic woodlands in Freedom Park behind Lilac Rd. and Forest Park Dr as a wildlife habitat area:
-- This 7 acres (approx.) area is a historic woodland, a rare resource that deserves to be protected and maintained as it is.
-- This section of Freedom Park includes mature trees, shrub and undergrowth, water and grassland - all essential for a natural habitat area.
